Pros

Discount on hair services and product. I have met some great people that I would consider friends once I leave.

Cons

DM has their favorite managers and GMs. They receive special attention including gifts and inside information. If they don't like you, no matter how hard you work, you will purposefully hold you back and treat you different. There is no encouragement or praise only threats of write ups. Upper managers (DM and regional) dig through our damages (returned product from customers) and makes us put anything that looks "sellable" back on the shelf. BUYER BEWARE you may be buying items like lipstick, mascara and hair products that have been most likely used and returned by other customers. It's disgusting but we are made to do it then threatened to be written up over high damage numbers.

Pros

If you like helping people find skincare and makeup that suits them, it's a nice place to be--plus you get to take home some products for free every once in a while as gratis!

Cons

Your Ulta credit card is in danger of being heavily used--whoops! Also, even if you really know your stuff and are in the middle of speaking with customers, if they need someone at the register, they will replace you on the floor with a Prestige Beauty Advisor, which was always super disappointing. Especially if you've already established rapport with the guest and their cart is getting full. Also, customers have shared feeling racially profiled, being closely followed. Not cool. Something to keep in mind so you don't accidentally do that if you're part of the team.
