Pros

1. Work can be interesting, if you are on the manager's good side. 2. Company Car 3. Corporate discounts 4. Work/Life balance is pretty good.

Cons

The business culture here is toxic. Since the work is very subjective, I noticed my reports were under a lot of unnecessary scrutiny compared to my coworkers, after falling out of favor with the manager. They forced me out of there and wrote me up for petite things like, "not asking enough questions in training class" or "not eating lunch with coworkers". There's very clear favoritism here and a lot of kissing up to higher ups. I noticed on LinkedIn that my entire hired class have quit and moved on from Travelers within 1-2 years. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Pros

We receive continuous training to stay up to date with new state regulations and market trends. My colleagues make the day go by quickly. The benefits are very reasonable. There is room for career growth if you know how to network. I appreciate their consistent push for community volunteer opportunities.

Cons

The personal lines department seems to be falling apart right now. Issues with the internal systems are resulting in underwriters doing multiple jobs and becoming a dumping ground for all agent issues even if they aren't underwriting related. I don't feel that the directors are truly expressing to the senior leadership team the impact that all these issues are having on the mental health and quality of life for the employees that are on the front lines trying to maintain a good reputation for the company. It's sad to see how quickly this department has gone downhill and the amount of quality underwriters that are jumping ship for different departments or different companies all together. What's even sadder it that no one with authority seems to care, or listen, when concerns are brought forth. I truly advise anyone considering applying for any position within the personal insurance department to hold off until things start to change - it's not worth the mental anguish that you'll experience.
