Pros

Simple work, unless you get a shift leader that complicates things. Free beverages always. It's not as busy as other fast food restaurants, and can get very quiet when it's not summer time. If you find a way to score this job when it's not summer, it may be better than most jobs.

Cons

Direct Deposit is not available, and the company is switching to Pay Cards soon. Randomized schedule. Only a 50% discount before, during, or right after your shift. Only the "cool" employees can make a burrito for themselves for free. At my store, I'm the only non-smoker, half of them are stoners, half of THEM are underage, which says enough about 90% of our customers. But this is about the job... Certain positions are far more difficult than others for the same pay. At my store, the cashier overlooks the dining room, and that's it. The drive-thru employee is also the dishwasher. The first person on the line prepares the shell, and the meat, while the next person takes that and adds cold food to it (tomatoes, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, etc) and then it's passed on down to the Expeditor. This person wraps it up, puts it in a bag or tray, and hands it off. Since this is America, and corporations minimize employment to increase profits, there's rarely three people on the line. We're lucky if there's two. This leaves customers sitting at drive-thru for an average of 5 minutes, sometimes even 12 minutes! Drive-thru employees are required to work alone, unlike other fast food places where there's two windows in operation. You must take orders while completing a transaction with the customer at the window. This, of course, will become irritating when customers honk their horn or ask "hello??" after 2 seconds of silence at the speaker. Then you have different managers or shift-leaders that require you to do the job differently, some want you to stall the customer at the speaker to benefit the timer, some want you to get the line moving as quickly as possible. Sometimes it's even the same manager that requests this... Up front cashier isn't bad, but it's a temporary introduction position you start out at. Don't get comfortable, soon you will face the wrath of drive-thru. The only cons with counter/dining room, is the complaints from customers when they expect a lowly associate to solve all of their problems, and magically whip out a new meal and a refund instantaneously. If a customer asks for a side of sour cream, you will be lectured on lecturing them that it costs money. You will be blamed for attempting to compensate employees with a complaint. You will be yelled at for giving away free tacos to people who land dimes or quarters on the spinning platform donation thing.
