Pros
1- Customer satisfaction continues to be the most important thing. Each customer issue is dealt with utmost importance and urgency. All requests are taken extremely seriously and the annual Tableau Conference is an excellent example of how well Tableau treats customers. 2- Good employees are taken really good care of. Morale in the company is high - people WANT to work here and don't feel shy in admitting it. Team-culture is highly valued and founders and leadership emphasize team success over individual success all the time. A common phrase you'll see on many desk "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together" 3- The founders are still here and very involved in the day to day activities. The Chief Development Officer still tests features and files bug and attends design reviews and meetings (in addition to everything else that he's responsible for). He's very well respected and has a bit of a mythical stature here :) 4- Tolerance for failure in favor of learning and adapting to get better is HIGH. Much higher than I've seen at other bigger companies in the Puget Sound Area. Several key managers here that not only live by this rule themselves but promote that across the board.
Cons
1- Company's growing fast with which come challenges. Biggest one having to readjust processes, infrastructure and frameworks to scale and match the needs. Also train newcomers. 2- Space is competitive. Tableau is the leader and has excellent execution but everyone wants a piece of the pie. Could be an opportunity too. 3- Parking options suck (at least in the Puget Sound area)
