Pros
It was fun during the Legere days. He really sold on the experience and the Un-carrier. It felt like there was a lot of culture, you worked with a lot of smart and driven people, and there was a lot of productive transformation and good change in the company. It was definitely a lot easier to drink the kool-aid. The people that you work with are incredibly nice, helpful, and talented.
Cons
A lot has changed since the Sprint merger. It now feels more corporate-like, although we're 'magenta', there is not a lot of life or vibrancy found at T-Mobile. Everything is about cutting corners, taking away headcount, cutting costs, and being cheap for the sake of record profits. T-Mobile will fight hard not to give their employees well deserved wages. In 2022, many employees received 2-3% raises, no cost of living adjustment, and they reworked compensation so that high performers now have a harder time being rewarded for actually being a high performer. As a result, managers who used to say you exceeded expectations are now suddenly saying you only meet expectations. T-Mobile is severely underpaying their employees. For example, Program Managers at T-Mobile can expect a pay range of $75-$100K. If you go to any other company, you can expect ~$120K if not more, along with better perks/benefits, better bonuses, and much higher RSUs. There are some people who have been at T-Mobile for 10-15 years who are now severely, severely underpaid. This is a reason why they have zero incentive to help their employees get better wages. T-Mobile's benefits are average at best, certainly not competitive by any means. In addition, T-Mobile for one was never about work from home, does not want to offer a flexible model, and is working towards enforcing everyone to come back to work. On top, T-Mobile is now installing security doors to track - yes, TRACK people coming back to work. Managers are now monitoring people who come back into the office. What kind of forward-thinking company behaves like this? It's not really an Un-carrier experience. Use T-Mobile as a place to jumpstart your career, but don't stay.
