Pros
no micromanagement. quiet and respectful place to work. the sony brand is strong and respected, although it has suffered a little in the recent past.
Cons
Decisions are not made quickly, US has to always check each detail with Japan which takes time. Decisions are not made until everyone is pleased...group think. Hardware team always nickels and dimes the HW platform, leaving software developers to have to deal with low performance HW. Projects are commonly done jointly with Japan, which adds to the sluggishness, due to distance and language barrier.
