Pros

- Gratis, which sometimes is very little. - If full-time they have good benefits, including the health insurance.

Cons

- The company expects full availability, even for part-time roles. Any restricted availability, particularly on weekends, often results in disqualification, making it difficult to hold a second job or maintain work-life balance. - Despite claims of training and development, no formal training is provided. Many staff members lack experience in the beauty industry due to uncompetitive pay, which discourages qualified professionals. This contradicts the company's branding of employees as "beauty experts." - The workplace is consistently understaffed, placing excessive demands on existing team members. - Management consistency is lacking, with different leaders enforcing rules selectively based on personal preference. - Staff are often treated unfairly, with favoritism influencing management decisions. Bullying and toxic behavior have led to multiple employees resigning, while leadership frequently ignores mistreatment. - The licensed beauty studio is managed by individuals with no understanding of salon operations or state board regulations, making it difficult for licensed professionals to perform their jobs correctly. Additionally, the area is not properly enclosed, raising sanitation concerns. - Employee feedback is routinely dismissed. Periodic meetings are held under the guise of listening, but concerns are often mocked or ignored, creating further distrust. - Management frequently speaks negatively about employees, both with and in front of others, fostering a hostile and unprofessional environment. - Advancement opportunities are limited, unless you're aiming for a management role, there is little to no room for growth. - Ultimately, the pay does not match the workload. Employees are expected to be constantly active during long shifts, with little recognition or compensation. This role is not suitable as a long-term career and is best viewed as a temporary job.

Pros

fun getting gratis and hosting in-store events, meeting brand ambassadors/managers, socializing with clients

Cons

manager created a weird environment -- coaching moments were sometimes extremely aggressive for a retail environment; strict on not applying makeup to clients unless they purchase a service. once made me move from a disabled client quickly because I was "spending too much time with them" and to further boost the store sales. felt extremely unethical.
