    I have been working at Sephora full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Lots and lots of gratis. working towards bonuses as a whole team, rather than commission work. Managment takes developing you seriously if you show promise, and the company will fly you places for training. Brands come in store for product trainings, and usually bring more gratis. Strong company values.

    Cons

    Heavy workload in terms of how many clients per consultant, especially around holidays. Bag checks are done after you clock out for the day. Your experience with the company will depend entirely on your management team. Low pay, for skilled work (product knowledge and artistry skills)

    Advice to Management

    Honestly, pay us more. We're highly skilled people, and are deserving of a living wage. Also, requiring employees to stay for bag checks on unpaid time is unethical. If you require your staff to do something, it needs to be on paid time.

    I worked at Sephora part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    This job is great for someone who wants to learn more about makeup/skincare and needs something part-time. Full-time positions come up occasionally but management usually already has someone in mind so your chances are slim. The only good part about this job was the friends I made and getting to play with makeup.

    Cons

    Be prepared to teach yourself everything! Yes, you get to play with makeup but unless you come into the job with a decent knowledge base then you're screwed. I had to teach myself about most of the products because you're pretty much thrown into the wolves (clients). Management is horrible and very toxic. They won't care to elevate you if they know you're a student or have another job. The micro-managing is... disgusting and your every move is being constantly watched. It used to be fun but it started to feel like a prison after a while. Gratis wasn't given out fairly to cast either. You can be the best employee and you still won't be good enough.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your staff! You've lost so many amazing employees because you treat them like they're replaceable. You don't pay us enough to live off part-time hours so you can't treat your employees differently when they choose to pick up a second job.

    -free makeup -playing with makeup all day

    Cons

    -depending on the location it can get extremely busy -like any customer service job, customers can be awful -on your feet for long hours

    Advice to Management

    -be less strict about the shoes that cast can wear. Comfortable workers = happy workers -dont let customers walk all over the employees
