I have been working at Sephora part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a really great work environment and I've work at a few other retailers. Yes there are sales goals to meet, however they don't make you feel super stressed to make those sales. Great hours too.

    Cons

There are many employees that have worked there full time for several years with no promotions and barely any raises in compensation

    Advice to Management

Work on developing employees even if part time

    I worked at Sephora part-time

    Pros

Excellent managerial style, really thorough training, and they had a wonderful emphasis on customer service not being based on y'know, profit.

    Cons

None really, there is a strict dress code, top to bottom, as well as makeup wise it was very specific, fortunately it worked for me, it wouldn't for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all the supervisors are on the same page about policy. The only time I had conflict was when different supervisors had different facts about how policy worked, which was totally not their fault, just a human thing that happens!

I have been working at Sephora full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The management is super flexible with schedules and commitments. The team is really great super friendly and welcoming. Training is extensive and educational

    Cons

The pay is Low compared to Sephoras competitors and the bonus does not make up for it.

Working day to day is extremely demanding it feels like working at a fast food restaurant every interaction with a client is timed.

I applied with a portfolio and a 3 year background in makeup I did not receive a brush belt for a month. It took me 3 months of working there to get mini makeover trained and I was working at the same pace as people who came from cash. It took me seven months of working there to get CM certified after they pushed it back three times but certified people who were hired the same time as me. Even though as part of my application I had to do a 45 minute look and the senior artist at the time ( who quit due to management constantly disregarding their feedback) Wanted me to be completely certified upon my hiring.

Low amount of elevated roles for artistry

    No tips

    Advice to Management

Pay us a competitive wage have more elevated roles for artistry. Employees who have an artistry background should not be certified at the same pace as someone with no experience. Let us take tips it lets us know our work is appreciated

    I worked at Sephora part-time

    Pros

Great managers, Great training, and networking with higher-ups of makeup brands represented in Sephora, amazing at accommodating my work/life balance, gratis (duh!)

    Cons

Training only in 1 area - would have liked to been taught a spot of skin care to go along with my makeup knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up. You guys made a lasting impression on me, and I am so grateful for our relationship. I often bring up my experience with other makeup artists, and still have friends in many Sephoras across Canada that love their job.

I worked at Sephora full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free product, excellent training from Brands, great chance to works with a diverse group of people, trying new products, bonuses

    Cons

No compassion, backstabbing, ridiculous policies and procedures, no support. There was so much backstabbing that you didn’t know who you could trust and who you couldn’t. If you didn’t fit their mold, they wanted you out and had very sneaky ways of making that happen
