Pros

Amazing co-workers. Drama free. There are no stuck up attitudes at my location, everyone respects each other and gets along. Teamwork is encouraged. Even at a smaller location like mine, there is so much amazing gratis. Thousands of dollars worth of free makeup! You can be yourself, there are no rules against crazy makeup, tattoos or colored hair. Occasionally you get to attend great trainings/workshops. Good work is recognized, they make sure to point out when work is done well, not just when you do something wrong.

Cons

Hours depend on hitting daily goals, you can end up working only 3 hours even though you were scheduled for 5 or 6. Your schedule depends on how sales are for the day and overall for the month. Scheduled for "on-call" times too, you don't know if you are going to have to stay or not till the time comes. Sometimes it seems like there is too much focus on hitting numbers. This also means, that to save money, there is only person working the floor at times. There is pressure sometimes from management to "break-away" from helping clients to maximize your time there and assist as many clients in the store in the shortest amount of time. Hard to give great service when you are being coached through your earpiece to leave and move on to next client.

Pros

fun getting gratis and hosting in-store events, meeting brand ambassadors/managers, socializing with clients

Cons

manager created a weird environment -- coaching moments were sometimes extremely aggressive for a retail environment; strict on not applying makeup to clients unless they purchase a service. once made me move from a disabled client quickly because I was "spending too much time with them" and to further boost the store sales. felt extremely unethical.
