Pros

Friendly coworkers who are also trying to navigate overwhelm

Cons

Starting with the pay. The salary I'm receiving--with my experience--is laughable compared to the industry standard for similar positions. But I knew this going in. I was willing to take a significant pay cut because I was under the impression that I'd be trading money for more immportant things: a vibrant workplace, opportunities for growth within the company, autonomy and accountability free from micromanaging, and mature, intelligent coworkers. Those things were lies. I was hesitant to accept the job offer after reading the reviews left behind by employees of Old Scribe, but I was promised (they swore up and down) that this was a new company. That things were different; evertyhing was on the mend. But if New Scribe is this chaotic, disorganized, and interpersonally-fraught then I shudder to think what Old Scribe was like. It truly feels like this company is walking a tightrope that could snap at any moment; there is no solid foundation here upon which to build longevity. It is the definition of building the train tracks while the train is speeding toward a cliff, but everyone is too busy padding their own ego to work together and build the tracks the right way. I don't see any opportunities for growth here. Speaking to coworkers who were here during Old Scribe times, one of the pitfalls of the old company was the propensity to create new job titles and give promotions or raises raises to people who were becoming dissatisfied with their stagnation at the company. But without a growing client base to pay for those new salaries, or to necessitate the new titles and positions, spending outpaced income. I don't see this company growing any time soon, so unless leadership is planning to fall into the same trap as before, I also don't see significant promotions, raises, or growth opportunities for anyone in the future. If I were satisfied and fulfilled with the work and culture, this wouldn't bother me as much. But reaching a dead-end street, when that street is in active decay, isn't a pleasant place to be at this point in my career. In summary, if the job market were less hostile, I'd have been gone months ago. As it is currently...a paycheck is a paycheck.

Pros

Scribe was a fantastic place to work and LEARN to work better. Founders were direct and blunt, which is a style you either loved or didn't. Personally, I loved it.

Cons

It was a startup at the time - lot of hours and work, but a TON of learning. Some folks didn't like the management style being so direct, but more of a cultural thing vs. actually rude, etc.
