Pros

the front shop is unionized so the employees have extraordinary protections. Also most Rexall's are pretty slow except for maybe an hour or two in the evening so the work is pretty laid back. Benefits provided for salaried staff, arent great but are about average. Front store staff get benefits and paid sick days thanks to collective agreement with union.

Cons

Company is on a huge cost cutting binge and as such there are restrictions on pretty much everything one does there. You have to get by on bare minimums and often buy supplies from your own pocket. Staffing has been reduced by about 50% over the years, so often tasks do not get finished by the front store staff and management is expected to stay after hours to complete, often managers and assistant managers put in 50-60hrs per week due to this reduction, and no appreciation is shown. expect frequent emails and conference calls calling out stores for minor issues, instead of offering support head office would rather control from above and work their maangement and pharmacy teams to the bone. Which brings me to my last point which is that the level of quality in their managers is poor. Probably due to the work conditions and lack of support from head office, Rexall has a very difficult time hiring quality managers and instead ends up promoting employees who have few managerial qualities.
