Pros
Overall, if ur just looking to show up to 9-5 till u retire with some benefits and pension payments, this is good enough. This is exactly what I meant by retirement culture.
Cons
Where I worked, most were older than me, you get a few who goes above and beyond, but most people do bare minimum, arrives late, leaves early (imagine 30-45mins of productivity down the drain, crazy how younger generations are being labelled as "lazy" and works more yet gets paid less). If you try to exceed, it becomes a benchmark and you become the bad guy for enlightenment executives just how productive the team and people can actually get. So you shrink yourself to not stir the water and adopt to the "team culture". Most people jump around frequently after 1-3 years, and most gets hired because they are relatives of someone, etc. Bonus and promotion is not performance based in practice, only in paper, but in the end, management picks their favourite. Someone didn't get top box because they were told they were new (1st year), second year they were told they "didn't do enough" but didn't explain why and how they can do better. Then they got a new hire with the same culture/religion as the manager, less than a year was awarded top box. I'm not surprised 3 people left. If u dont care much about performing well, getting a good bonus promotion and increase income, then u will do well here. But if ur high performing and want more than bare minimum pay and cannot tolerate this much corruption, then this is not for you. Be careful of people also giving u all the workload but taking all the credit. The retirement culture i can tolerate, but the favouritism and colleagues who takes advantage of you is essentially what cut it for me.
