Pros

Working at PCC means you get to work directly with some of the most complex aerospace components. It was cool and rewarding coming to work everyday knowing that the components you work with were going into some of the most advanced aerospace engines on the planet.

Cons

As many others likely have said about PCC. Safety is not taken seriously, and major accidents happen all the time. I knew going into the job that it would be an unsafe job, since HR decided to focus so much on their safety numbers on orientation day. They were showing us how safe they were based on the numbers, and I was asking myself why they needed to show these numbers in the first place. I came to find out that it was due to their severely unsafe working practices that led to several worker deaths and significant environmental spills in the recent past. Speaking with the floor workers, I also found out that they got their low safety incident numbers not through fixing their safety issues, but by retaliating against employees who were injured on the job. Floor workers were afraid to report any injury that did not directly send them to the hospital, since they were afraid of getting punished or fired. This means that all the incidents that were actually recorded usually were incidents that caused serious damage, such as crushed legs or severe burns. While I was there, I had pointed out severe degradation to some equipment that was a huge safety concern, but management decided to sweep it under the rug. A few months later, that equipment failed and put at least 6 operators at risk. Management blamed the engineering team, even though it was their call not to spend the needed money to fix the safety issue. They seemed to get that equipment replaced pretty quickly after the safety incident occurred. I don't think they had much of a choice. The work environment could be quite toxic at times. I came in quite a few days knowing that I would either witness a yelling argument and have to step in and mediate, or I would be yelled at myself. Multiple times, I had to calm someone down after work made them cry. It takes a toll. They expect long hours, and they do not pay all that much better than other places around the area.
