Pros

Old Navy can be a very fun job especially if you like retail and fashion. Seems to be a good job for college students that are available nights and weekends. You meet interesting people both staff and frequent shoppers. I like to make connections with the customer and assist them with their shopping when need be hoping to give them a great Old Navy shopping experience. The discount at all of the sister stores is great especially when on a budget. Can be a fun & rewarding environment if your "store team" clicks and respects each other. I really like the company as a whole and really enjoy my job and the people I work with but....

Cons

My biggest beef is that the pay & hours are minimal. I am not a student and was hired prior to the holiday madness. I worked many hours during that time including all major holidays so the paychecks were nice. Now the store is on a total skeleton crew and I'm lucky if I get 2-3 shifts per week that are under 4 hours so they don't have to give me a break. It's frustrating because I want to work and need the money. Now I feel like I have to look for another part time job to supplement. Another issue I have is that the way the schedule is set determines which area you are placed for your shift. I am available during the day but seem to ALWAYS be slated for the fitting room which can be a mindless & boring space. I take my job seriously whether I am in the fitting room or @ the register but had I known that I was being hired as a fitting room attendant, I may have reconsidered the position. I am all about customer service and love to work at the register insuring that all customers walk away with a positive shopping experience & a smile. My managers all know as I have shared with them. Unfortunately, I don't get that opportunity very often as there are team members that have been there many years who don't work in any other area. It makes it difficult to achieve goals management has set for us each shift involving opening new ONC accounts especially when rewards are involved. I feel that is an unfair business practice to all team members as there are definitely advantages to some over others. I think there should be more opportunity for advancement & pay raises commensurate with experience and not just a set $$ amount for new hires.

Public criticism, condescending communication, inconsistent accountability, and fear-based management styles became increasingly common. Feedback often felt reactive rather than constructive, and many employees did not feel psychologically safe speaking openly about concerns. There was also a significant lack of consistency between leaders and stores. Expectations changed constantly, communication was often unclear, and favoritism sometimes impacted accountability and decision-making. Long-term employees who consistently stepped up during difficult periods often felt taken for granted rather than appreciated. Reporting to HR will get you no where. You will be gaslit if you choose to speak up.
