Pros

Working at Nuance in Enterprise Professional Services presents a chance to collaborate with lots of very smart colleagues, and the caliber of Nuance's customers/clients is high -- it's exciting to reinvent customer service side by side with some of the world's biggest and best name brand companies. Benefits and compensation are pretty good, too, although each year seems a little less generous than the last - higher premiums, smaller raises, etc. On the whole, though, I cannot compain about much!!

Cons

1) Quality work does not translate to job security. Too many high quality people have been laid off in broad strokes as part of a kneejerk reaction to appease investors. If a particular area is being downsized, there is little to no effort to find opportunities for valuable resources in other parts of the business. 2) Just doing the nuts and bolts of the job can be tiresome. The more the company grows, the more convoluted the internal processes become (e.g. expense reports). Seems like extra steps get tacked on for everybody to accomodate the fringe exceptions that pop up with each acquisition. 3) It's hard to get a coherent sense of Nuance's overall culture. The corporation's personality is a bit of an ungainly mixture of each regional/global office and each acquired company. There's also a bit of a disconnect between senior management's family-friendly platitudes and middle management's pressure to perform at all costs. That said, my own boss is very hands off and supportive - but it seems to be luck of the draw.

Pros

The company offers excellent training and a thorough onboarding process, helping new hires feel well-prepared and confident. The small, close-knit teams foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where you never feel lost in the crowd. Employees take pride in the innovative technology and software being developed, which is recognized as impactful within the industry. (Note: The company was acquired by Microsoft to bring potential for future growth.)

Cons

While the company excels in many areas, there’s limited upward mobility, especially in certain career paths, which can be frustrating for those seeking advancement. Additionally, feedback from employees often feels like it’s not taken seriously, which can lead to disengagement when trying to influence change or improve processes.
