fairness to employees, benefits, quality employees, cross-training across functions (employees aren't professionally siloed into a particular career)
Cons
too big and matrixed organizationally, managemetn is disconnected from the consumer and the actual tasks employees are doing. no focus on retention and measuring retention, management is prone to letting employees figure out how to fix problems even though the problem is systemic (i.e. management is disconnected from the consumer).
