Pros

Good, smart, driven young people (but will never be given the opportunity to do any meaningful work)

Cons

Compensation in Glasgow is horrific. You get an inflationary bonus every year if you're lucky (£500, yes £500, barely beating inflation). You will never make money in Glasgow. Gynocentric culture. Big focus on women and minorities, no equality for the straight white male. No vision in Operations - Senior managers think Blockchain is 'overhyped' (Against all other data, only because it doesn't suit their interests). Too many people doing jobs that can be offshored or automated (Assume management dont want this flagged to their overlords to maintain their current pay checks, less people = less pay for them). No room for growth. At all. Once you reach VP level they will keep you for a few years then boot you out to hire another VP for less pay. Seen it happen at least 7 times. Management genuinely have a chip on their shoulder towards younger staff (I assume its because they know they have their full life ahead of them whilst they have spent the 90's and 2000's working in Operations which wont exist in a few years) Management are generally not very knowledgable. Its common for people to make misongynistic, homophobic and racial jokes (100% serious) even management, in the office and group WhatsApp conversations. HR generally dont want to rock the boat and intervene. Beachballs, Stressballs and other stuff gets thrown around the office like a nursery. Really unprofessional. Even seen nerf guns. The VP brought it in, absolute child. This is probably a Pro but not from their perspective, people move to other departments by bypassing HR and networking with senior group members in other departments (IBD, S&T, Research, Strat). Operations team up with HR to tell everyone this is not possible, but it happens all the time, and makes an absolute mockery of any influence they have in the organisation (Which is literally 0)

Pros

Very good co-workers, Great technology stack. Lot of new technologies and integration with current work.

Cons

They dont even give you a MS cup. They ask you to buy it for 5$. So cheap! Management big on "Giving back", Immediate managers do not like it and are not supportive. Lay off employees twice a year to show profits. Only worried about shareholders and clients. Don't know the criteria for lay-off. So, you are always worried if it is your turn. They boast about mental health and wellness. No good, when they layoff employees like this. HR = Horrible Resources. When you are laid off, they shoo you away as if you are a fly. You feel miserable. They themselves say - "We are better than Facebook or Oracle. We dont fire you at 6 AM over email." Gosh! What a comparison!
