Pros

It’s a highly distributed company in terms of locations and you never feel like an outsider for not being at “corporate”. As a result, the company offers a fair amount of flexibility in your work schedule, and this has been quite true during the pandemic work from home shift.

Cons

I’ll stick to the top issues: 1) No clear business strategy – the former strategy no longer works after absorbing HPE Software. Can’t tell if they think they can time machine back or if they are committed to creating a new one. 2) Leadership is ineffective – massive organizational changes every year in attempt to “fix the company” when it creates more confusion, no continuity and results in (surprise) failure to hit numbers. 3) Leadership is uninspiring – every all hands is a rehash of the same story delivered (our mythical three year plan) in boring monotone or executives (mostly the CEO) outright denigrates wellintentioned employees asking questions. Bring a handkerchief to wipe the drool from the corner of your mouth. 4) Extremely divisive culture – Strangely people are obsessed with where did you come from – Stack A or B. Just shows that there is great animosity post acquisition - adding to the dysfunction. 5) No organizational alignment – Similar teams doing the same thing, teams running at odds of each other and lots of talking to as opposed to collaborating effectively. Everyone for themselves it seems. 6) No expectation of upward mobility or rewards – Compared to other tech companies there is little room to grow your career unless luck is on your side, bonuses are meager and forget any stock unless you are part of the entitled few. This list could go on – but I think you get the point by now.
