Pros

Mars is a great company to work at...if you're an associate. From that I hear, they have wonderful 401K benefits, good workplace mobility, work/life balance and flexibility and some of the nicest people I've met has been at Mars.

Cons

Mars is not a great place to work at if you're a contractor. They treat you like the bast*rd son. No matter how much work you do, or what you add to the team, you will NEVER be treated as part of the team. Some things I've experienced while being the sole knowledge holder is being excluded from Ways of Working meetings - minutes are then cascaded to me. Decisions are made involving processes that they have no understanding of, without you, simply because you're a contractor. You will never be allowed to join team meetings or team engagement activities. I believe their reasoning in that contractors are not covered under their off site insurance. Yes, this literally means your entire team will get up to leave at 11:30 for a off-site engagement activity and lunch while you get to remain behind at the office. They won't tell you, they will all simply leave. Whee, so much team inclusion, right?! And the cherry on top is that you won't be allowed to park on the MTO lot. You have to park elsewhere and be shuttled to the office. 30+ minutes of the day will be wasted on this extra commute. As a contractor, Mars is a rather disengaging, dehumanizing environment. They will expect you to do everything that your associate counterpart does, if not more, but will not give you any sense of belonging. They will insist you are part of the team, but they will NEVER treat you as such. If you choose to work as Mars as a contractor at the Global HQ in Mount Olive, be ready to feel like you do not exist. Be prepared to feel ashamed that you're a contractor and therefore, it's justified that they leave you behind. And after 2 years, be ready to dust your hands off and leave because you will rarely have the opportunity to step into an associate role (after many empty promises from the managers). And after being treated like dirt, why would you want to?
