Pros

Free breakfast and lunch with limited quantity.

Cons

Micro management, all the senior managers trying to become to control person in the school especially the HR manager (NotA Qualified and Professional) will step into all departments to control the school. The CE will bride a lots of people to become her eyes so that this people can feedback her with every single department juicy stories. Even your personal life. Not recommended for those who are looking for work life balance people. You won't get this. You need to be on stand by 24hrs on call. Even during MCO period with the tight locked down all staff are force to go back to office to work. The HR will issue fake letter for staff in order to get through the road block by the police. CE full of empty promise to loyalty staff. In fact the school tag line should change NOT Bully Free, is If you want to get BULLY, This school is FULL OF FREE BULLY for you to experience.

Pros

Lots of resources Students are wonderful Administration is nice, but powerless (discussed in the cons)

Cons

FIRST, MAY I BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR FOR THOSE OF YOU CONSIDERING THIS JOB FOR EMPLOYMENT: 1) accommodation IS NOT provided for certified BC teachers, only for ESL teachers 2) The school is cheap cheap cheap cheap to no end cheap! 3) Mould is an issue, it might be in your classroom, in your office, behind your whiteboard 4) classrooms are ill equipped at best; sometimes projectors or speakers don't work, and it is a hassle to get anything replaced There is a reason that most of the staff at this school are new. Maple Leaf is a stepping stone, not a career, its a two years and then flee with all it's resources. Some of your fellow staff members are not professionals, some are upset, one threw himself from a building (or so some say...) etc etc etc. If you like giving out tests, then this is the school for you. If you like marking until you have blisters on your left and right hands, then this is the school for you. This school will overload you with work, and then ask for more. The school has recently increased the rent for teachers who are living on campus. The rent was increased by 50%, but then the teachers revolted. Now the school has argued that they won't increase the rent until next year.... but most international schools pay for a teacher's rent, or subsidize it in your salary.... May I say this again: there are 125 job postings on education Canada for this job every single year, why is that? This school has proven to be a huge disappointment, and I will be more than happy to flee with my two years experience and get out. This school is a joke, at best. Get your two years, and run.
