Pros

I am a mother of a 12 year old, and I need to focus on her education. I am working on part time and this gives me flexible hours. So I get a feeling that I am also working and at the same time I am not woking throughout the week so I still have time to help with my daughters projects and test.I do all my shoping in Macys on the daysI go to work so I dont have to go separately for shoping.I can use my coupons on top of twenty percent employee discont.During holiday season we get to open thanks for sharing applications and in this I earn almost 500 dollars macy money which I can use for my christmas shoping.Because I work there I know when the products hit rock bottom prices and i save lot of money by buying the products at the right time. This is not a great place for good earning but a good place if you consider your work as a passtime since my earning covers my monthly macys bill and also almost cover my daughters extra curricular fees. 0- ' n

Cons

Definitely not a place to earn good.If you work in the clothing section ,recovery of the floor kills you and you sincerely feel you are not paid enough for the work you are doing.Managers dont help you a lot in recovery.

Pros

you get ok pto even as a part timer, not physically demanding, good A/C and heating depending on the weather.

Cons

very low pay compared to other businesses, you only get a 40 cent raise every year. same playlist consisting of 15 songs on repeat and it drives you crazy as time goes on. very inconsistent hours they rarely give morning shifts, you only get the more undesirable shifts like closing which ends at 9:30pm. the sales goals will be exceeded and they hours will still be cut especially around the holiday season. numerous amounts of time where i am left alone at the register on a busy day with no backup and still expected to clean fitting rooms and recover the floor with no help. overall no room for growth, started when i was 18 and am now 20 and have not even been considered or offered a higher position, 2 tiny raises is all i got. i overall feel like my position is bottom of the barrel compared to asset protection, jewelry department, and fragrance sales because they get paid better and make commission while doing less easier work. would not recommend and if you do end up working at a Macys use the experience you have and never stop applying to jobs because there really is no growth here.
