Pros

Fair salary, 30 days of holidays, some employees are nice, new experience. Company is not that bad but need to train right people for managers because most of them completely don't suit their roles, no interpersonal skills and understanding and appreciation for hardworking employees.

Cons

- fair salary, but when you think about aspects like: being extremely flexible, stress, work conditions, working most weekends, no extra pay for Christmas days, Easter etc., no commissions and your wage after a few years of hard work- it is nothing really special about money, - unfortunately, most stores have a bad management. it is difficult to work with people who are just showing their power, do not do any favor to you, but you need to do favor to them; do not care about you- breaks after 6-7 hrs of non stop working are something usual, even if you ask for one earlier, some store managers can be really badl, - hard working people are not appreciated and treated the same way as lazy ones. there is so many people, who seem to do not progress and do a bad job. Lidl need good, hard working ones, if company wants to do even more money. managers are being lazy too, some of them, - you may ask for holidays during Christmas and do not get it, even after every 2-3 years of working there; and then you see, that someone who is not even good at his/her job get holidays after 6 months of working. why is that? everyone should be entitled to take holidays during Christmas every 2-3 years. what kind of talking is YOU WILL NOT GET A HOLIDAY BECAUSE WE DO NOT DO IT IN DECEMBER, when you do not know everyone's personal circumstances and being working hard every Christmas Eve etc., this is not an answer. and then someone new is getting it just like that. - treating people like slaves and someone without family/social life, - I asked for flexible hours after a few years of full time working and being flexible, committed and honest. and what? they do not need inflexible people. I found it difficult to work my new hours and days. so it means- it only works one way, with benefits for Lidl only! - team work is important, in most stores- I didn't notice it. some people work very hard, other ones are playing around. not fair! - sometimes they change rota around 2-3 times a week and they expect you to come every shift. what about this '2 weeks' rule? I can understand that rota is being changed sometimes, but not all the time. - hours cutting. Lidl makes more money, expect people to be cherish and customer oriented but it is difficult to be calm and help everyone, when everyone is sitting on the till and there is no one to help on the shop floor or i.e. clean spillages. - irregular breaks can cause some stomach problems and being less productive. YOU NEED LEARN THIS FINALLY! - I am glad, you let people drink water at the tills. it was against human being to forbid it. I was even sneaking my water to the till as it was difficult to sit at the till during the summer in 25 degrees without drink. I felt sick. it is so unnatural! - soul destroying place, - trying to treat people like robots.

Pros

Benefits are excellent, most people at the peer level are great. Clear performance expectations. Decent cross functional communication

Cons

Company leadership very European and doesn't quite understand the American consumer even after being in the US so long. Unreasonable expectations are the norm. No upward mobility unless you are European or speak fluent German.
