Pros
Competitive salary for someone starting out.
Cons
The only pro of an attractive salary is counteracted by the zero existence of a work-life balance. The Head Office is an uncomfortable place to be! Very unwelcoming and highly narcissistic and egotistical at management level, who inanely mistake their narcissism as effective leadership. The hostility throughout the place is vastly obvious and this is very apparent to customers with store employees. Communication was antagonistic at every level and the majority of employees were highly negative and disengaged. There was always a deep atmosphere of chronic stress and discontent that was masked by a deluded expectation of ‘high performance’. Lidl is a company that vociferously advertises it’s desire to only attract top talent at the highest level of performance, yet so candidly invest very little in anyone that does not possess the same ruthless boorish attitude and outlook of those in position of influence within the organisation. Lidl has a fantastic set of company values that at a glance would be alluring to any career driven individual seeking employment in a forward-thinking people focused environment. However the blatant lack of respect amongst it’s workforce for one another, the lack of accountability and responsibility for such behaviours does very little to install trust in the most optimistic professional. And do not expect any type of recognition from a chauvinistic top-line management group that are not well known within the business for their impartial judgements. My advice, do not sacrifice your integrity at the appealing draw of salary!
