Pros

There are some nice people to work with.

Cons

This is the worst place I have ever worked at! They aren’t fully transparent. They make it seem like they care but they really don’t! They move too quickly on things without giving much thought to how things work, and they make the processes so complicated than they must be! Nothing makes any sense there! It is very difficult to navigate there because it is a matrix within a matrix. People who have been there for over 15 to over 20 years still don’t understand how anything works and they all say, “they don’t know”. They are highly risk adverse company, so when they have layoffs their policies screw people over. Anyone who has been working for 0-4 years, they only give 4 weeks severance. The crappiest severance I ever seen!!! It’s completely unfair. The people who do so badly in their work performance are given two options, career transition plan or go on a PIP. Most of them choose career transition plan because they are given 90 days to not work and get paid for that whole time and given a career counselor to help with their resume. But the people who work the hardest are laid off and given 2 weeks’ notice with a month’s severance!! How backwards is that?!! Everything is always done at the last minute coming from the top with no thought process and they think it makes sense to them when it doesn’t’. Their systems are completely outdated and don’t speak to each other. If you consider working at this company, you will regret it. Everything is complicated for no reason there and they will lay you off with nothing beneficial to you. They laid off a lot of people this year (2023) because of “Economic headwinds and due to low attrition”. Don’t be loyal to a company because they only care about the bottom line.

Pros

It might sound cliche but the Pro for me is the people that I work with. I'm lucky enough to be staffed in a team with great leadership. Managers are actually willing to coach junior members and be a real mentor. I very much appreciate their efforts.

Cons

Long hours and office politics. This is pretty basic and obvious for any public accounting firms. Every time a quarter end, year end, or a special filing is going out, you can expect 10-14 hour days. It might be fine in your early career but it gets really tiring after a few years.
