Pros

The people: the work environment is competitive; there is a great sense of teamwork, solidarity and professional respect among levels and across functions. The clients: you have a chance to work on large and high profile engagements which provide an excellent opportunity to, for example, 1) meet and work with senior management, 2) learn how these businesses are managed and 3) be challenged with the variety and complexity of accounting topics.

Cons

The hours: although there is flexibility (and time off is pretty good), there are times when a work/life balance is more of a challenge to overcome the imbalance than a balanced choice.

Pros

You get to work with an awesome, highly resilient group of local peers in the advisory practice. The KPMG brand still holds value, but the internal team dynamics have become incredibly fractured.

Cons

We have outsourced 80%+ of our Risk Advisory work, leaving onshore seniors with massive gaps in their experience. As a manager, I am stuck doing senior-level work because I typically have only one or zero local seniors or associates on my teams. The best leaders have already resigned because this model prevents actual management and mentoring. Also, it might take you 30+ years to become partner in Risk Advisory, if at all.
