      Pros

      Let people work on their own (trust) with minimal oversight.

      Cons

      Moving up requires entry into 'the club'. You have to be mobile and not a complainer. Risk of layoff if projects are slow coming in the door. Willingness to relocate is a requirement as one advances in the company.
