Pros

The work was interesting and challenging at times. Good set of co-workers. Hours aren't bad.

Cons

Culture is bipolar because employees want one thing, but management enforces something different, so morale was low. A review from 3 years ago said that the CEO was disrespectful to employees - nothing has changed since then - except that the vision for the company is less clear.

Itemize Response

Itemize is almost a completely flat organization. The voice of the team is that of management, with the exception that management will remind the team to keep an eye on revenue, which is after all, why the business is, well, in business. I'm sorry that this reviewer felt that the vision was less clear. The vision is actually stronger than ever: Itemize is the receipts and payments document processing platform for banks and payment institutions. To borrow from a more famous vision - Itemize aims to process all the world's receipts. We do this with AI and ML and our products help with expense management, compliance, and tax processes.

Pros

Itemize allows a lot more flexibility and benefits than most start-ups offer. Between the generous amount of PTO and the ability to work remote when necessary, Itemize is a great company from a benefits standpoint. The CEO and Management have immense vision, and that is to become the Google of Payment Documents. With its focus on middle market business, API clients and financial institutions, Itemize is well on its way to achieving its vision. As far as anyone being disrespectful, my experience has been that everyone is in management is open to suggestions on improvement and criticism - as long as it's constructive. The management is very passionate about the work Itemize is doing and that comes off each and every day.

Cons

No real cons. It's hard work, but that's how start-up life is, be prepared to work hard and keep up, this company isn't looking for anything but A Players.
