Pros

Super interesting projects, large diversity of tasks, and, above all, great colleagues: caring, willing to help, motivated, respectful and smart. The team is small and international: at some point, we had people from Turkey working on a project in Greece, and somebody from Iran on a project in Israel. It is a small company, but truly international.

Cons

There are some downsides at Invision AI, too. Most of them are related to its start-up aspect. Even though the company runs on customer money, not all products have found a profitable product/market fit. That implies that we often have to change development direction to test business opportunities that come and go. It is sometimes difficult to find time to work on core, fundamental long-term technology assets, because the team is small and there are contracts to honor. The good side of this start-up aspect is that there's room for contribution: I see that my work has a huge impact in the company.

Pros

+ some of the junior employees are gems + got some decent tech and competition in the space is awful so there’s potential to hit it big with a change in leadership (merger/acquisition). + workforce is diverse

Cons

- ethically concerning behavior: seemed to make verbal promises at the time of hire and then going back on them; seemed to change performance review retroactively to justify no raise; seemed comfortable with rescinding offers; rumors of a discussion asking an employee to work more hours than stated in the contract; witnessed several actions skirting the line of constructive dismissal; rumors about female employees being overlooked for raises and bonuses. - identity crisis: they believe they are a product-focused AI startup when in reality they seem to be a sales-focused tech consultancy hoping to stumble into a big deal that pivots into product-focus and this seems to make employees uncomfortable. - treating employees poorly: rumours of several cases of denied vacation; rumours of inflexibility with remote work requests; apparent refusal to reimburse learning material for work; rumors of expectation to work over weekends for some employees due to poor planning to meet deadlines. - poor leadership: massive control and trust issues so even small decisions have to go through CEO; no clear direction on product and timelines for features; managers told to deny some vacation/remote work requests; transactional, task-oriented and autocratic leadership style. - poor work culture: too many people in too many meetings; often delayed, often canceled, often runs over time, and hugely inefficient; workforce is not inclusive as evidenced by big gap between senior and junior employees. - no career growth: senior leadership refuses to engage in a real conversation about career development, instead referring some online courses to build skills. - another review has said it, employees come last repeatedly regardless of what management claims to believe.

Pros

Incredible mentorship, and opportunities for growth and learning. Was able to own a project end-to-end and see it deployed by the end of the term.

Cons

Team is in different timezones, hybrid workspace in Toronto headquarters.
