Pros

I have worked in media sales for Irish companies over the past 15 years and Hubspot is by far the best company I have ever been part of. Hubspot hires primarily for fit which involves attitude and ability. Yes the interview process is rigorous and can be long, as the policy is one of “hire to keep” rather than “hire to fire” as other companies tend to do. I love that Hubspot Dublin, Boston, Sydney and now Singapore is staffed with really smart people who are keen to learn, open to being coached, ambitious to progress and aim to help together. This would explain the exceptional global growth with everyone going in the same direction with complete openness and transparency.

Cons

I have been working for Hubspot in Dublin since they opened in March 2013. This is a really busy environment where everyone’s success is mutually interdependent. There is a big focus on being both an individual contributor and being part of a team; hence working with colleagues to assist prospects and customers whilst being responsible for your own activities is huge. There is a strong focus on accountability and metrics; so if you don't do busy environments or if you are a solo operator who prefers to fly your own flag and if you are not comfortable with transparency and visibility then Hubspot is not for you.

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
