Pros

The only upside I can think of is not having to deal with upper management face-to-face.

Cons

If you're considering working at Hopper, run the other way. What was once a promising travel tech startup is now a house of cards held together by one lifeline: the Capital One contract. Beyond that, the rest of the business is dead or dying, no matter how much they pretend otherwise. The leadership is clueless and constantly chases shiny new projects without any strategy or follow-through. They’ll hype up product launches or market entries that either never happen or flop so badly they quietly bury them and hope nobody notices. Communication is non-existent, and priorities change by the week. One moment, you’re told to focus on a product or market; the next, it’s scrapped, and you’re expected to pivot with zero explanation. If you’re hoping for job security, forget about it. Hopper is bleeding cash and relying on Capital One to keep the lights on. Everything outside of that contract is neglected, underfunded, or outright abandoned. Teams are stretched thin, people are overworked, and you’re left cleaning up the mess of leadership’s poor decisions.

Pros

pay, remote, some good/smart people in pockets

Cons

Senior leaders could not care less about employees and routinely make bad market decisions leading to foreseeable product issues and eventual layoff cycles. There was a time a few years back where employees criticized the dark patterns in the app - the president got pissed and said 'the data didn't show it was an issue', then a few months later when we got bad press about those patterns dismissed it as our competitors planting stories - sums up the culture pretty clearly.
