Pros

The product is really great and has so much potential. Each team member worked super hard every day to push out excellent content and creation. The energy was almost tangible even in a remote setting.

Cons

As with many startups, change was ever constant. Headcount for recruiting was always a moving target and the "bar" was set too high. For every 100 candidates interviewed , about 2-3 would receive an offer. It was extremely inefficient and the interviewing fatigue from the engineering team was present in every interaction. Candidates with amazing backgrounds and potential were turned down without concrete reasons and be labeled "not breaking the bar." Taking a look at the internal team would quickly point to the fact that their own backgrounds were not always as impressive for what they claimed to be looking for. It was extremely difficult to make a hire.

Pros

pay, remote, some good/smart people in pockets

Cons

Senior leaders could not care less about employees and routinely make bad market decisions leading to foreseeable product issues and eventual layoff cycles. There was a time a few years back where employees criticized the dark patterns in the app - the president got pissed and said 'the data didn't show it was an issue', then a few months later when we got bad press about those patterns dismissed it as our competitors planting stories - sums up the culture pretty clearly.
