Pros

-People. Incredibly smart and hard-working people. Bankers in the SF group were generally pretty humble (for finance) -Good deal flow. Being in the SF IBD office, you get to work on some of the world's most high-profile transactions -Culture. The GS culture is about working smart, working hard, being positive and professional. I never saw anyone really get yelled at.

Cons

-Hours. I heard it's gotten better now, but if you sign-up to be an i-banking analyst, you will be working extremely long hours (unpredictable hours, work during weekends and holidays, hard to plan dinners and trips with friends). E.g. I was happy if I got home at midnight and could do my laundry.

Pros

The firm encourages and supports to change teams, which is helpful in expanding experience or moving away if you aren't happy with your team

Cons

The promotion has become very opaque lately. They hardly give out promotions, but make you slog and overwork the whole year in the name of it. Basically, you have worked 200% and made to look like a fool by the end of the year.
