Pros

Flexible hours Genenbuses are awesome Cafeterias are awesome Intelligent co workers If you're a blue badge there is lots of room for advancement because the company is huge

Cons

The badge color mentality is unbelievable: if you're a blue badge (permanent full time) then Genentech can't be beat! If you're a red badge (highly paid consultant) then you're treated with respect but the working conditions are terrible: 10 people jammed into bull pens so tightly you're knocking elbows with each other. People find places to "hide" with their laptops so they can get work in peace and quiet and you're not allowed to work in an empty conference room either. Green badges are the bottom of the barrel, usually clerical workers, jammed into skinny tables in the hallways where everyone walks by and can't help but look over all the time, or the bull pens or forced to occupy tiny cubicles barely big enough for one person no less two.

Pros

The work is meaningful and overall the company vision aligns with my goals

Cons

QA management has become inept. None of the leadership (aside from maybe one or two) truly understand the nuances of our site and jobs. They refuse to pay you more due to "budget" reasons but won't provide much information, they claim to be transparent but will make decisions behind your back and not communicate them, even if they impact you and/or your job. Leadership doesn't listen to feedback and gets defensive if you even try to give any. It honestly has become a game of politics only in QA and that's not really building any real quality culture.
