Pros
back in the day when Jack Welch was at the helm, GE was run like a well oiled machine. The stock split, GE was good. GE was diversified and the pension was funded.
Cons
Things changed when Jeff Immelt came and took charge and totally screwed up GE, he did not do what was best for the company, nor did the board of directors. They kept the problem going on for over 16 years. Replacing Immelt and not giving John Flannery enough time to fix a 16 year mess was wrong. There is still a good ole boys network and not enough women are promoted. GE talks diversity but their actions don't always show that. Obviously the executives don't lead by example, they still spend money and cut everyone else from spending. It should be across the board. Expect to always worry about layoffs and to keep getting more and more work assigned to you as more people are cut.
