Pros

Straight overtime for salary folk on the production floor. Never will be bored. Plenty of learning opportunities to show how not to organize or manage a production environment.

Cons

Long days (12+ hrs) plus weekends will be spent In the shop. You will not see the sun in winter. Management effectiveness is measured in decibels. No hint of an opportunity to grow or diversify. You are measured on several metrics that are directly contradictory, ensuring you will fail in some way everytime. Upon failure, you will be publicly ridiculed on your appearance, personality, gender, and maybe (in part) about the actual failure to perform to above metrics. No instruction or coaching or advice in how to improve.

Pros

My first job after college and my internship was a great experience. I learned a lot about medical devices and the medical device industry, and I even got promoted to site leader pretty quickly.

Cons

My training was nonexistent; I learned everything from medical device service manuals. In my region, a billion-dollar company offered no bonuses or decent pay, and the management was micromanaging and horrible.
