Pros

Occasional free drinks after work. Steady paycheck, not 100% commission based. Young and 'fun' (partying) staff. Decent holidays (3 weeks for new staff) plus a 'free trip' accompanying a group of students overseas.

Cons

Management team appears to be hired on the Survivor "outlive, outlast" model. If you can put up with phone sales for long enough you'll ascend the corporate ladder and become a manager some day. Their management hiring strategy does not appear to be based upon skills, experience, or aptitude. Secretive atmosphere. Interviews are ongoing, and current staff are reminded that they are disposable if they don't meet their sales goals. Mid level manager is a bully and seem to think that scare tactics are appropriate motivators. Numbers-obsessed management. They don't seem to understand that demonstrating care for their staff, and encouraging staff to care about their clients and the outcome of their programs, will increase sales. Instead they rely on heavy handed meetings where past, present, and future sales goals are repeated without addressing specific ways to overcome obstacles and meet the goals. Senior management and the Canadian CEO appear not to care about their front line workers at all (again, beyond buying drinks for the team occasionally, as though getting everyone drunk makes them feel relevant). It appears that the CEO would never deign to introduce himself to a new employee or acknowledge them in an elevator or in the hallway.

Pros

You get to choose your tour and recruit the students you want to bring. The paid chaperone ratio is 6:1, so it is very manageable. The tours are great and the local experts are wonderful.

Cons

Company support is variable. There is high turnover and new consultants are very sales motivated and don't always get the nuances of your school or community group. I have had some WONDERFUL concusltants, but they have always been promoted before I get to work with them again.
