Pros

I write this review as someone that watched a thriving culture that did amazing things to what it is today. If I wrote this 4years ago, it would be the opposite. Cvent had everything it needed (great people) to succeed and they're starting to lose that. The people. This company has some of THE BEST, most kind, and thoughtful people. Sadly, see cons because this is starting to fade due to the shift in culture in the past few years. You will be busy. There is no shortage of work and this means you get a broad range of exposure to the org and products.

Cons

As a designer: You have to fight hard every single step of the way to get the simple things done and when you actually get to delivery, watch as your hard work goes from a design you once knew to a figment of your imagination. You will be judged on doing design properly but in this organization, it is near impossible, so prepare to fail in the eyes of your manager. The "technical constraints" are never possible to get around and trump design. So prepare to always be making sub-par designs to fit the "technical constraints" Unless managers that have zero exposure to your work believe you're good at your job, you will have a tough time succeeding. There is a pretty tight inner circle at the top of the design org, if you're in, great if not, godspeed (especially if you're a manager). Solutions are already figured out long before you as a designer get involved. General: A toxic culture where you are constantly wondering who will push you under the bus. You have to document conversations to protect yourself. Politics, politics, politics. If you are capable and equipped to play a political game, this is the place for you.

Pros

Great people and the job was fun.

Cons

Did not get paid what I’m worth. Not flexible in pay. Kept in the dark regarding pay for a long time.

Pros

Good work-life balance, decent benefits package, flexibility and control over one’s own schedule within reason. Majority of colleagues are fantastic to work with. Generally seems like they actually care about employees. Employee recognition is improving. For the role specifically, builds a lot of great soft skills that are transferable if there’s desire to move into other roles/depts.

Cons

Some aspects of benefits fall a bit short of what other large tech companies offer, but not terribly so. Putting a lot of emphasis on AI, which wouldn’t be a con if not for the uncertain landscape of job security and given some recent actions from other tech companies to fund their AI initiatives in favor of employee benefits. Promotions difficult to achieve at times even with proper performance. For this role, working with customers always has its difficulties and can sometimes feel like you’re the punching bag for things out of your control.
