Retail assistant at a Co-operative Store - Retail Assistant Co-op Employee Review

Pros

I found the supervisors and managers to be very supportive and training. They treat you perhaps as a little dim, but for a part time job this was no problem- I was never asked to anything particularly challenging. The 10% discount is a bonus, 20% on payday, and I found the company to be very understanding. A colleague of mine seemed to take a sick day once or twice a week and was shown understanding and given many chances.

Cons

The work is rather repetitive and can become very dull, but fun and friendly team members make up for this.

Pros

Team got on well, hours weren't particularly harsh (pay not particularly impressive either)

Cons

Overworked due to corporate ruthlessly cutting hours (while hiring more staff?), generally piling on more and more work to the store team without considering time constraints, absolutely no opportunity for advancement while a store manager is already there
