Pros

Chevron is a highly respected, good company to work for. They are a dying breed with the benefits package they offer, great healthcare, 401K and full pension and their salary is very competitive. Overall it is a great, global energy firm with opportunities in the West, South and Southeast, and many locations overseas. Chevron prides itself on a diverse work culture and they deliver! This is one of the most diverse workforces I've come across.

Cons

Like anywhere else, a mix of good and bad with the people. While Chevron preaches "The Chevron Way" it can vary from BU to BU. My personal experience could get pretty awful at times, but the job and benefits kept me around. Also, I went through 9 "reorgs" in 20 years. I finally left after the last one. Getting promoted is next to impossible in some BU's, external hires can sometimes keep you down. Better at the manufacturing BU level. If you want work life balance, you will not find it here. Expect to put in long hours and weekends, especially since they keep reducing the size of their workforce.

Pros

The people at Chevron are great and overall it's a pretty good company - decent benefits and company culture. The 9/80 work schedule is a great perk. It has struggled to stay competitive with other big employers in California though.

Cons

Leadership has become increasingly out of touch, with regular re-organizations, lay-offs, and offshoring of support/operation functions disrupting day-to-day work and making processes even more slow and bureaucratic. Overall most employees are still wonderful to work with, but the constant leadership mantra of "do more with less" and removal of flexible/hybrid work has definitely reduced morale and made Chevron just another job, whereas it used to be a genuinely enjoyable place to work.
