Pros
- Great coworkers – Supportive team environment. - Affordable health insurance – Around $40/month for a couple if staying within Banner; deductible-first but good contracted rates. - Good pay in surgery centers – Higher than PFS roles in standard offices, with pay ranging from $18-$26/hour overall. - Some excellent managers – My last manager was engaged and supportive. - Job protection for pregnancy (IF you ask for it) – ADA covers unpaid leave before one year; FMLA isn’t available until one year; six weeks paid maternity leave after one year, with an extra six weeks STD if medically necessary.
Cons
- Understaffed due to hiring practices – Recruiting often rejects candidates unless they are “perfect,” leaving positions open for too long. - Inconsistent management – Some managers are great; others leave employees in survival mode. - HR is hard to reach – Getting answers is frustratingly difficult. - Strict transfer/promotion policy – Employees must wait one year before transferring or promoting, which often pushes people to quit instead of grow. - Training is inadequate – Banner treats employees as "plug and play," failing to recognize that each medical office has different needs. This results in poor training and lower-quality patient care.
