Pros

What I loved most about my time at BTS was the people! Despite working remotely, I had interactions with my colleagues and team. I always felt fully engaged and integrated into the company's culture. BTS provided an environment where I could truly be myself and openly share my ideas without fear. I appreciated the trust and autonomy I had—I was never micromanaged. My line manager was supportive, encouraging me to take on new challenges and grow within my role. Working closely with HR within Europe, I gained insights into the people aspect of the business, and I can confidently say that BTS is home to many talented, smart, and dedicated employees. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at BTS.

Cons

The salary is significantly below market standards, which makes it challenging to make ends meet at times. I however took this role knowing this, and took it for the role/people and not for the money. Advancing to a higher position is also quite difficult. I noticed that consultants often received priority over operational staff, depending on the company's financial status. Despite BTS's non-hierarchical status, there seems to be a shift in management's approach and hope it doesn't stir up the culture of BTS. Unfortunately, I, along with my colleagues in Stockholm, were made redundant due to the decision to consolidate all operational teams in the UK. This has left Stockholm with only consultants. While I believe the blend of operational and consulting roles can be beneficial as they work closely together. I sincerely hope for the best regarding BTS's future.

Cons

In the 2 times I have worked for BTS I have been misled on the environment/situation I would be working in. Which has led to serious issues. The first time, I was recruited I moved my family across the country for a position that had 16 turnovers over a 2 year period due to the toxic government leadership. I was not given any heads up and was put in a seriously challenging position for both my career and financial wellbeing. The second time I took a job with BTS, I was told the contract had just been awarded for 5 years. However, once I arrived, again having moved my family across the country, I found out the contract was on a 6 month extension. There are other issues on the administrative side, and all I will recommend is to document everything. You WILL need the proof sometime down the road. All in all, I would say at times BTS was good, but mostly they operate in the morally gray to keep that top line up. Was fired over voicemail, for not working overtime (just working a standard 40 hour work week at night!) while I was recovering from the flu. No notice, no conversation, just canned. If management had taken a moment to speak with me, I could have provided email proof I had approval to take a slight step back while I and my family all recovered from the flu.
