Pros
Great people and overall, the marketing team for such a large enterprise company is small. So, you have an incredible opportunity to work with a lot of different teams and pilot a lot of innovative programs - I didn't experience much duplication of efforts in marketing like in other more matrixed Tech companies. When I was hired, they were incredibly open to remote work, but then a new CMO, Nick Utton came on board who was very old-fashioned and remote work hires were discouraged and targeted for layoffs - he lasted 3 years and left. Luckily and remote work is embraced again.
Cons
The constant layoffs were brutal. I've spent 20 + years in high tech but never experienced it as bad as there in my time at BMC from 2014 - 2017. It was extremely demoralizing. There occurred twice a year. Sometimes they were small and concentrated but the rumors and fear were exhausting. I finally had to leave because it was extremely stressful and depressing.
