Pros

I am a software development employee for Aflac and this is actually my first review of an employer, despite working in tech since 2006. For Aflac, I develop in Salesforce, CRM Analytics, Snowflake, and Data Cloud. Compared to working in tech or tech consulting company, this place is atypically kind, well organized, and well resourced for a modern tech setup and devops. Most of the management are people who have been here many years and were promoted from inside, which is a pleasant surprise as they're atypically capable, atypically connected, and have system knowledge from outside the immediate team. The management also don't present themselves as stressed out or workaholics, which means there is minimal stress rolling down and workloads are that of a typical 9-5. The WLB is actually real. Overall, for a tech employee, this place seems like it has the best of old-school management and the best of new-school tech and tech processes. Very happy. Also, you'll struggle to believe me, but they legit care about their individual human clients and not just the corporate ones, which is not typical for health insurance, but we are supplementary health insurance that anyone can drop at any time if they're unhappy, which is why I realized we're different. All health insurance should be like this.

Cons

The cons here do not compare to the cons of working at most tech companies or consultancies, so it feels like nitpicking, but some that stood out to me are: - only 40 hours of sick time per year - no IVF benefit from Aflac - no IVF coverage from the provided health insurance if you're the male partner

Pros

Freedom to be your own boss, trips, bonuses, renewable income (instead of one time commission), career instead of just a job. FORTUNE 500 and a World's most Ethical Company. Great training (at least here in Wyoming) and a family mentality. Great family/work balance.

Cons

No base pay, can be a slow start at first, you have to be very organized and self-driven, have to be licensed in life and health to sell insurance (but my management help with the process).
