Pros

Those who have the personality and commitment can make a bunch of money over time. Aflac is a great company with unique insurance policies, they do all of the marketing for you.

Cons

Success is influenced by what district director signs you up. Some are much better than others. Commission only, and with a long selling prices out takes a lot of time and a tin of hard work child calling and learning everything about insurance to get going. You better have another source of income or a lot of money saved up to survive the first several months. In their 'orientation interviews' which is just a presentation about aflac, they make the bed sound so important and selling it so simple, but I found it to be much more difficult to sell than they led me to believe. After a year when I moved on I was resentful at how they get people in the door there. They make the job seem so much more glamorous than I found it to be. There is a very high turnover rate.

Pros

Freedom to be your own boss, trips, bonuses, renewable income (instead of one time commission), career instead of just a job. FORTUNE 500 and a World's most Ethical Company. Great training (at least here in Wyoming) and a family mentality. Great family/work balance.

Cons

No base pay, can be a slow start at first, you have to be very organized and self-driven, have to be licensed in life and health to sell insurance (but my management help with the process).
