Good benefits and a passion to help the DDS population.
Cons
Nepotism, favoritism and lack of ethics is fostered at this agency. The gossip and alliances are a huge problem. Good luck if you need to present a valid concern to HR or supervisor it will go unreported.
Friendly atmosphere among other Service Coordinators that understand the job you do, privacy in your own office. Coordinating services for families and children under your case load. The flexibility of scheduling your meetings with your families.
Cons
No immediate training you are held responsible for learning your job by asking questions to other Service Coordinators. Not always finding someone you can ask and not having a supportive superior you can go to. You are given 6 months to do 20 something trainings which by then you have figured out what you are doing on your own. Where it was done right or not. Upper management needs to retire asap. Talk to current employees about their experiences and ask a lot of questions about what your job responsibilities are and get it all on paper so there are no surprises.
