Pros

Some of the staff are great to work with and respect your skillset, from Comms, IT, Network Services, Accounts, and Sales.

Cons

The silo'd nature of the company almost pits each department against each other, with a completely different work ethos assigned to each department. The engineers (Comms and IT) prioritising customer service and product viability first and foremost whilst sales and accounts make it feel like the money comes first and we'll pick up the pieces afterwards. Substantial brown-nosing occurs and there is a deep level of trust between the MD and senior staff that is ill-deserved, dishonesty has been observed frequently and generally you are forced out of the company by making it feel uncomfortable to work there, hence the staff turnover rate.

Datasharp Response

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about Datasharp. I agree with your comment about the team at Datasharp being great to work with – they really are a superb team of talented professionals who are highly valued and I enjoy frequently telling them this via group emails and individual face to face. As you will also know, if you worked here, we send out customer satisfaction surveys to all customers to ensure our high levels of service are maintained and to give our customers the opportunity to give feedback. A brilliant 96% of them are returned with perfect full scores for all areas of sales, technical and customer service. It is because of the excellent service from each department that our customer retention rate is very high. We have had some great customers that have been with us for over 30 years. If we weren’t providing excellent all round service this would not happen. You refer to “brown nosing”. I have worked in companies and witnessed this first hand when upper management is never disagreed with and the only answer they hear is “yes” so I am confused as to what you are referring to. I encourage, and regularly receive, conflicting opinion and dialogue to my initial thoughts - I am not arrogant enough to think I am always right and I’m grateful I am not surrounded by brown nosers as my fabulous team are certainly not afraid to tell me that they think I’m wrong! I highly value their input, expertise and advice and at the end of the day I make what I believe is the best decision for the company. Our increased success year on year is testament to this. If I was surrounded by brown nosers the company would not be as great as it is. I trust all of my team, not just the management and, as you will know, actively encourage anyone to come and chat to me at anytime. I say good morning each day to everyone and listen and value each member of the team’s opinions. If people are passionate about their careers they want to speak out and propose ideas, sometimes radical, which is a great thing to encourage progress and alternative thinking. I consider myself very lucky to work with such a brilliant team of dedicated professionals 10% of whom I have worked with at Datasharp for over 20 years and 65% of the team have been at the company over 10 years. The staff turnover rate is incredibly low. It is because of our investment in people and nurturing of talent that has resulted in us winning so many industry awards for technological innovation and great customer service. I am so proud of the great team of people here. I wish you success in your future. Jane Cockcroft MD

Pros

I started working at Datasharp over 12 years ago and can honestly say I love my job! This is mainly due to the fact that the company (especially the MD) has a great attitude towards the work/life balance. The company is very future focussed (which in itself is reassuring as far as job security is concerned), this also means there isn’t chance to stagnate as we are all working forward. Career wise they are very supportive and encourage staff to progress within the company. There are plenty of opportunities available through fully funded training as well as workshops for ongoing professional development. They are equally supportive when it comes to ‘home life’ and the MD advocates flexible working where necessary (as a mum to two children this is invaluable as it has meant I can work part time and from home if I need to). There's a great team ethos at Datasharp - we're encouraged to work together and also have lots of social activities (summer boat parties, charity fundraisers etc). I highly recommend working here.

Cons

There aren't really any cons working for Datasharp. Working on Truro Business Park can be a bit frustrating as there's not much to do during lunch.

Pros

I have had the absolute pleasure of being part of 'Team Datasharp' for the past 7 years and have held two positions at the company. You can clearly see how the company have been looking after the needs of thousands of business customers across the U.K. (And on foreign shores) for over 35 years. The people who work for the company care so much for their customers and this is a reflection of how the Directors and senior management treat the employees. The company is a true gem of an organisation to work for and consistently invest in their staff to be able to deliver service which is recognised regularly with industry and partner awards - just check out the website to see :) The true test is to look at the relationship length of clients and the average length of employment - both are equally impressive. I have never felt that I belong anywhere else since joining Datasharp UK and I am looking forward to a long career at a company which I feel truly value to be part of.

Cons

There never seems to be enough hours in the day! (But that's not really the company's fault).
