Pros

Flexi time Bonus scheme Good development equipment Some great people to work with Decent pay

Cons

Lack of visibility to new developments Back stabbing going on at many levels Refused to let anyone work from home for years but now with COVID it’s loosened up a bit but I suspect that they are still uncomfortable with staff working from home. Management simply do not trust the employees that work there. What was a relaxed atmosphere has been replaced by quite a tense one, deadlines are decided by people who can’t estimate and as a result they are way out.

Feedback is and must always be welcome, weather one likes it or not. So thanks for taking the time to offer them. I'm a bit saddened to read some of these comments as we're trying to be as welcoming as possible to discuss any conerns, and it would clearly be better to do so face to face at the company if possible. That said, here's afew comments relating to some of the feedback above. It's fair to say management, including myself, have had an eyeopener during the March-19 Lockdown in the UK (as I believe most companies have had a similar experience), as we quite forecfully had to change our working practices to make anyone that could work from home do so. Productivity is probably about the same, or at least not much different, although some things works better and some worse. I think it's also fair to say that Microsoft Teams and Zoom have been excellent tools that makes team cooperation work really well when everyone is participating on Teams and Zoom. That's not to say that it would work as well if 2/3 of a team is in the office and 1/3 is not. We will be a great deal more flexible on how the work is performed in the future, but it's not without an affort to develop effective practices to do so. In regards of software test comments, we've made a real effort to build a much more thorough test strategy over the past two years. Embedded testers have ben recruited for most development teams, and we've got a a few more to go. This effort has already paid off quite significantly. We're recruiting for a System Test Manager, and it's fair to say we've struggled to build the System Test team, but for more practical shorter term issues like recruitment, and there's abolsutely no lack of either ambition nort comitment to the task. The quality of our products is paramount to the business we're in, and should not be questioned. We had a unpleasant period of quality issues, a few years ago, quite well behind us today, and we certianly don't ever want to go there again. If there's one thing that scuppers product development schedules it's typically the unpredicatble nature of customer support and product improvements required to existing products to meet new and changing customer requirements. It's hard to comment on the more personal comments about "backstabbing" or "managers pushed aside for those with little knowledge" etc above, but I would want to be the first person to get the feedback preferably immediatly when and if they happen. I hope this addresses most of the feedback above.

Pros

The vast majority of the staff were great to work with and the flexi-time was nice.

Cons

- On my last day I was shouted and sworn at by the CEO when presenting my completed work, he had done this to others prior to this. - Refused to allow wfh (this may have changed since the pandemic). - Had my hours watched and recorded by my manager, I was the only person this was done for. I always did my contracted hours and often did unpaid overtime. - Every decision made was by group committee, even when those involved weren't employed in those areas. - Felt very micro managing and often over ruled when decision making. - Pay is very low in comparison. - Extremely slow moving. - Overall a toxic environment I wouldn't return to.

I'm quite surprised at the feedback above, and very saddened if it's attributed correctly and I hope not. There are several Datapath companies out there (unfortunately). Very few things in the above feedback is representative of the feedback given in our internal anonymous staff surveys and is contrary to what we want the culture to be at Datapath. The advantage of being a small company is the speed with which we can decide and act, and I firmly believe we are. This also necessitates that we trust our staff members individually and in teams to work towards common goals and objectives with a great deal of autonomy, and that is what we do. We operate a flexitime system which is generally highly appreciated, and with few exceptions it works with limited formality, and with a considerable trust in our staff members. It’s our ambition to make the most of every staff members’ talents and capabilities, and the further and faster they can develop, the better for Datapath. Nevertheless on very rare occasions we have to part way with staff member where the skills and capabilities does not match the requirements of the business, we have a formal and thorough performance management process in place to provide safeguards for the staff member to ensure fair and proper treatment of every step of the process. Every staff member contributes to Datapath’s success, and we appreciate those effort, and whenever possible I’ve made it a priority to find the time and space whenever someone have left the business to offer my thanks and appreciation. No, we don’t swear nor shout at staff members.
