Pros

Decent Benefits and direct leadership!

Cons

Pay, productivity tool, no longer as flexible as it once was. Health Insurance went up by 15%-20%; meanwhile, yay, we got a 3% raise! The executive group is so out of touch, and moving into a higher role is almost impossible, even with 7 years of experience; they will just go with the person they are familiar with, even though their team members are begging for something new!

Remote work and parties can't mask low pay and poor leadership

Pros

Well...They have annual summer parties and you can work remote.

Cons

Annual raises are no longer guaranteed, and you're pretty lucky if it's more than a few cents. They pay the barest of minimums, and I have heard a department head state "some people complain that we pay enough that they're financially locked into staying with us. Well, that sounds more like something you should be grateful for to me." Meanwhile, those same employees are still having to get second jobs, or are living paycheck to paycheck. The current CEO is so incredibly out of touch that in an effort to "relate to having hard days at work" he bragged about how he was having a hard time figuring out a problem so he decided to leave for the day and go out on his boat to clear his head.

Pros

Once upon a time, yes. Presently, it's more of a theoretical concept.

Cons

Four years here, consistently strong reviews, consistently exceeded expectations and somehow, consistently the same paycheck. For a while I told myself the tradeoff was fair: modest pay, but at least a sane work-life balance. Then they rolled out a 'productivity tool' that is, charitably, spyware with a UI, and that particular silver lining quietly disappeared. Product development would likely be a ghost town by now if the job market weren't quite so unforgiving, nothing keeps people in their seats like the absence of better options. Meanwhile, leadership has had something of a religious conversion to AI, and seems genuinely convinced that engineers are just a slightly more expensive version of a for-loop.
