Good Place to work, different grades of employees

      Pros

Great Pay Decent Location, still cheap to buy as long as you stay out of Port Elgin. Despite what others may say, management is pretty good. MCR in particular has a great team.

      Cons

There are 4 classes of employees. A, B, C, and D. Class D are the folks who work for a vendor and they are treated like drones and paid poorly. Class C are direct contractors who have all the responsibilities of full time employees but no benefits (but are paid pretty well). Class B are the full time employees on MCR or other projects who actually make the plant run. They are paid well, but have to work hard and long. Class A are the do nothing folks who get paid full time but work maybe 25 hours a week (this is most everyone at B10 and full time trades at Bruce B and A). This system is not very fair for obvious reasons. It will take you 5-10 years to get from class D to class A. It may be worth it in the end but you will not feel respected through the process.

      Pros

      Good pay, Pension, and benefits.

      Cons

Smallish area, HR hires friends / attractive people and acts like they are the most diverse company ever.. they aren't. Not big on working from home, they make everyone drive to work, but then waste money buying electric cars for their fleet to save the climate...

Great Place to Work - Improvements needed

      Pros

Good company to work for. Great benefits and generally a good work - home life balance. Can easily move to other related jobs and gain different experiences and opportunities.

      Cons

Pressure on those who didn't get to work from home to pick up the slack/ do actual work. Each station management seems to be different. Can be high pressure role. Environment since covid has gotten worse- very toxic and bullying presence by the anti vaxxers. Company handled the pandemic well, put good precautions in place but seem unable to stop the bullying and toxicness or don't care too. should implement psych assessments on some of them. It's needed.

      Little Support, little guidance

May 23, 2022 - Senior Section Manager in Tiverton, ON
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Salary Vacation days Some individuals are helpful

      Cons

The organization does not provide new managers with training, and expects them to perform at the station's standards without training, mentorship, or even pointing towards the right procedures. When I approached leadership at their office to get feedback on areas I can improve in, I was dismissed; when I followed up with an e-mail to set up something face-to-face I was ignored. Diversity and Inclusion efforts get lip service at best and are ignored more often than not. The best decisions for the business get thwarted by the CBAs, creating severe inefficiencies, and causing the station to be significantly misaligned with the best business practices in the nuclear industry and higher costs per megawatt.
