    I worked at Booking.com full-time

    Pros

Good office environment, (mostly) friendly people, opportunity to migrate to EU if you're from overseas.

    Cons

Booking has a business model that works, for now, and they follow it to a "t". You either fall in line like a lemming, building alliances with and kissing up to the people "above" you, or you leave. To Booking's credit, they do frequently (copy) and introduce best practices from other tech companies. But when contexts are not exactly the same, nobody knows what to do. Booking doesn't hire for independent thinkers...

    Advice to Management

Begin hiring for intelligence and actually valuing external perspectives. And find ways to cut out the nepotism (it's not very hard to split this up when you have friendships among direct manager-reports all throughout the company and it's very obvious).

    Advice to Management

Staff have qualities that Key Performance Indicators can't tell you, people aren't algorithms or robots. Free food doesn't boost morale, fair working conditions do

    I worked at Booking.com full-time

    Pros

Good company overall, had many opportunities especially inregard to the transfer between offices, multi-cultural environment, nice locations of offices.

    Cons

Repetitive tasks, Management too political meaning you progress if you have a match with your manager and not based on your performance, not much opportunities of progress vertically.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your team members as they know the most the daily concerns of the partners, you are working on a free market and not in the army; A must : Need to come back to flat management like it was few years ago.

    Pros

Free fruits, and that's about it!

    Cons

Where to start. They advertise the job as helping clients all over the world and basically the job consists of handling complaints on complaints, and attends useless team huddle (but in the same time it's the only way to take a break from the phone). The Toronto management is pretty terrible, some of them had a board where all the results were there to see, so you know who is weak (pretty terrible management technique)....

    Advice to Management

Most of the time, employees don't quit a job because of the job but because of the MANAGEMENT. I think Booking.com should gave the management and the supervisors training on how to be professionals!! Micro management is the worst way to manage. Some of the supervisors have years supervising and because of that they think they are great. Wrong! I was hired with a group of 14 peoples... less than a year after, only 1 person...
